a mere matter of marching

Weekend progress report: I didn’t make 10,000 words, opting to have writer angst, watch old DVDs, make (Magic Bullet) hummus and guiltily wikipedia to my little heart’s content instead. It was awesome. This is not to say that I didn’t write (hey, I’m writing now!)–I got to fix some structural problems with my novel which would have been completely undelightful to discover later, so that’s good. I also spent time looking through my old high school yearbook. I like it when you start out tearing through your closet in search of something else and then you find your high school yearbook and forget what you were originally looking for. It’s all kinds of cool. O high school, our time together was incredibly brief but the memories are forever.

I’m still awaiting the arrival of the Living Dolls photobook, but because of it, I think of anything I’m going to do with the series next as Part 2: Revenge of the Living Dolls or something. I’ve been contemplating a narrative, a story in 20 or so pictures, with two main characters. I don’t know. I’m kind of leaning to something romantic but knowing me, it’d go straight to zombies. There’s something about those flesh-eating ragamuffins I just can’t get enough of.

I’m reading The Invasion of Canada 1812-1813 by Pierre Berton right now. I tried to read it a few years ago, and I got pretty far into it and then I flipped ahead to Isaac Brock’s untimely demise and that was the end of that (I love you, Isaac!!!1). I forgot how entertaining and wonderful it is, and like the first time I read it, I keep wishing I was a connected movie mogul because if I was, I would so be making 1812 the major motion picture (or mini-series) by now. Michael Riley for Isaac Brock, Y? I definitely think so. Colm Feore could be Roger Hale Sheaffe because he’s in everything. I have given this a lot of thought, as you can see. If anyone influential from the CBC is reading my blog, why have you not made this movie and/or mini-series yet? I have been waiting all of my life and I would be shocked if I was the only one.

so when the photobook arrives, does this mean we can order them? or is this just a first run trial thing?

Glad you got some writing done. And oh please do combine flesh-eating zombies with revenge and romantic disillusionment/etc.! Can’t wait…

whitney: I think you’d really like it! I rec’d it to another American friend of mine and besides that, it’s your history too! Pierre Berton is so excellent at making history interesting and fresh… despite the tragedy involved, the war of 1812 was kind of madcap and ridiculous and funny and very gentlemanly. I wish more people read about it. And re: the photobook, if there are no problem with the books I receive, I’ll make the LuLu ordering page public and post it here! If they are not okay, back to the drawing board. And now a Q for you: do I get to pimp what are we training them for now? Can I, can I, huh, huh? !

w: Thank you! I really think romantic disillusionment and zombies go hand in hand so. Heh.
