There is this amazing scene in the Trailer Park Boys movie where Ricky heads to the Gentlemen’s Club to see his on/off again girl Lucy, because he has something very important to tell her. Their relationship has been kinda rocky since he got out of jail and she started working as a dancer at the club, but Ricky is determined to make it work. He finds Lucy in the VIP room and the two share a tender lap dance until the horrible truth that Lucy’s been bangin’ Sonny, the seedy dude that owns the club emerges. Cue heartbreak.
It was GENIUS. Along with the deaf/mute opening, it was probably my favourite scene in the whole movie. The performances were really tender and sweet but the fact that the scene was underscored by the Tragically Hip’s Scared–quite possibly one of the most sincerest sounding songs in the world–just made it perfection. The movie in itself is crazy awesome, but one of the best things about it–and I really am saying this from the most unbiased part of my being–is the music cues.
The music cues are BEYOND PERFECTION. Seriously.
From Rush’s Spirit of Radio in the opening credits, to the helicopter chase with I Fought the Law, to the arrest where the Hip’s 38 Years Old seamlessly bleeds from one scene to the next, to the aforementioned lap dance scene with Scared playing in the background, there is not ONE misstep with the music cues and I could go on about this forever but trust me when I say they were like little music cue works of beautiful art. I’m such a sucker for masterful audience manipulation in movies and TV with the use of music and the Trailer Park Boys movie delivers, people. If you like music cues, this is the movie for you! I mean to say you could watch this movie for the music cues alone.
Really!
We’re talking about some sweet, sweet music cues right here.
And yes, I am aware I totally just geeked out about the Trailer Park Boysmovie’s music cues but what can you do. It was so worth it. If Trailer Park Boys gets anymore awesome, I swear my head will explode all over this blog!!
Anyway, because the movie has been watched, you may have pieced together that the revisions for the last novel are over and I am now back to working on my other novel. I’m a pretty happy person right now. There is one last thing on February’s To-Do list and it starts with ‘a’ and ends in ‘autoharp’ and if that comes together before the 28th, February will be, dare I say it… the best month ever?
It’s definitely in the running.

Great news all around! I am so happy for you with the revision. Now fingers crossed for that autoharp soon ;)
TODAY’S WORD IS JACONET! I will never stop loving this anti-spam word thingy.
February is SO the month of the Towel Girls! Which just figures because it’s the SHORTEST MONTH OF THE YEAR! Unfair! Sigh. Poor us.
Yay for finishing revisions! Congratulations! Also, I’m so glad you finally got to see the Trailer Park Boys movie and I’m glad you shared it with us because it sounds like total fried gold. PLUS: AUTOHARP!!!!!! Eeee, I’m so excited for you!
Nova: Thank you! I swear, this is my brain 24/7: “autoharp autoharp autoharp autoharp..” :)
Lori: I LOVE YOUR LOVE OF MY ANTI-SPAM THINGY. It was worth it for that alone. And I agree re: February being TGM (Towel Girl Month) not only because it has been but… the short thing. Dammit. When we take over the world I really think every month will be February, Y? AND TPB movie is on youtube!! But you didn’t hear it from me. & Aslo thank you re: revisions. THANK GOD THAT’S OVER. I complained at you enough about them heh. :)
