selected blog round-up

I’ve wanted to do this for ages and I kept getting distracted, but no more! Here are a couple of blogs I command you to read and read again (with reasons!):

11:26
Lori’s the person I go to for opinions on new and old releases of books because she reads them. Lots of them. She’s a very well-read woman and she’s objective to boot, so what more could I ask for? Anyway, this Lori’s new rockin’ personal blog that already hosts several fun entries about football, Kelly Clarkson and Danielle Steel’s latest author photo which you have to read about to believe because wow. You know how they say “if you don’t learn something new every day, you’re dead?” If you subscribe to this notion of living, I can tell you from personal experience that Lori’s blog has already proven me not dead–alive, if you will–on several occassions. VISIT IT.

Distraction no. 99
I’m going to try to tell you why you should visit Nova’s blog with nowhere near as much skill and interestingness– is that a word? It is now–as Nova has when she writes her blog entries. She’s a writer (check out her story, Last Resort in Small Spiral Notebook, currently available online–I really enjoyed it) and I’ve always admired how open she is about her progress/process. Her ability to articulate her writing journey and life in NY in such a way that it can be engaging, poignant, fun, and honest is something I don’t mind envying because I get to read them (and so do you if you click the link, so click it!). She knows how to connect words in ways that are just above, no matter what she’s talking about and that’s rare in an age of bloggers who relate life in that UR, ‘SUP, LOLOLOLOL way (nothing against blogs like that, but… it hurts my eyes). So visit, visit, visit!

Loud Solitude
W’s blog is rich, but not in the oh that’s rich way or in the that cheesecake is too way but in the rewarding, fulfilling GOOD kind of way. Rich in topics, rich in language. Visit the blog, read, and venture into literary musings, writings, books, and life shared in a way you might not have experienced in a blog before (at least I haven’t). This is another one who knows how to write and I must say, W’s personal insights and sharings have more than once given me pause for thought. Like I said, rich in a very good way. I always feel like I’m exploring and discovering something new when I visit Loud Solitude. Which is why you should visit it too, because who doesn’t like that feeling?!

This Old, Old House
This blog’s name alone makes it worth visiting: This Old, Old House and its Young, Industrious Owners. Whitney and Steve are “two early-twenties homeowners living in the city of Buffalo” bloggin’ about their “home-buying and house renovating experience.” I want to say it’s the first blog of its kind, but I’m no authority and regardless, it’s already entertaining and extremely interesting. I am really desperate to see the paint that’s called Magic Wand because I’m sure it’s the exact opposite of what I’m visualising. Anyway, the best part about this blog is you don’t have to be in the process of buying/have just bought a house to enjoy it. Which I really do (and I’ve done neither). Whitney’s a friend of mine and I don’t think she does anything without making it great, fresh and thoughtful and I’m looking forward to seeing Old, Old House grow. Keep your eye on this one.

VetusAstrum
Why do I know such cool people? It seems to be an affliction I have. Why are Australians so cool? It seems to be an affliction they have. This is the blog of a very, very cool Australian that I am happy to say I know. She’s witty, sharp, fierce and clever and it doesn’t matter what she’s talking about, she’s relating it in such a way that it makes it very hard to look away. So go see her blog and then prepare to be unable. To. Look. Away! It rules.

Fi: You must have some psychicness or something going on. Your comment cracked me up so bad and now I’ll tell you why. While writing this entry I decided I wanted to do a blog round-up/showcase every weekend (or every other weekend depending on how lazy I get) since I’m such a crap blogger on the weekends and ANYWAY, I’ve got a list for the next two weeks in a notepad file saved on my desktop–made BEFORE I got your comment–and guess who’s heading up next/this week?! And then I woke up to your comment and laughed. So I AM revoking your sulking privileges, at least in this case. Heh. Man. I am still chuckling about this hours later. It figures heh.

Lori: Ahahah. I love my new spam blocker just because it brings joy to my friends. And PS: your blog? NOT CRAP. Don’t make me come over there to slap some clawesome into you, cause I’ll do it!

Nova: Aw! Well, seriously. Thank YOU for your blog. It’s nice to have something to read on the internet that isn’t all LOLs and HOW R U etc., heh :)
