The ADVANCE UNCORRECTED PROOFS for Cracked Up to Be came in the mail today! They were sent off on Thursday, and then I had to endure an entire weekend AND a civic holiday waiting for them to come while my editor and my agent told me how great they looked and I was like, “IS IT TUESDAY YET?” And then it was Tuesday and they came and now I have them! It’s my book in book form!! It’s my book in advanced and uncorrected book form!!!!
Now. I know what you’re thinking.
PICS OR IT DIDN’T HAPPEN!
And also, maybe hopefully, HOW CAN I GET ONE?
Well. Let’s address one issue at a time here. First, pics!
(Just so you know, Edward Cullins may be sparkly, but I feel like if my books got into a sparkle off with him, they would win.)
Don’t they look like books?! With covers! Aaah! All ten of them are sittiing right beside me while I type this now. I kind of carry them from room to room and hug them whilst I still can, since a lot of them are getting mailed out to the world within the next week or so. I want them to go remembering fondly the time they had with their author. Every moment we have is a Kodak one!
Anyway.
Do YOU want an Advance Uncorrected Proof of Cracked Up to Be? Are you reading this blog and DO YOU WANT ONE? Because if you are and you do…
I am holding a give away one (1) (Advance Uncorrected) copy of Cracked Up to Be on this blog!
And in the spirit of these lazy hazy days of summer and the fact that I’ve been absolutely brain dead since I handed in the first draft of Your Mom to my awesome agent yesterday, it is going to be the EASIEST GIVE AWAY EVER.
Here’s how it works:
If you would like to be entered in a drawing to win one (1) (Advance Uncorrected) copy of Cracked Up to Be, all you have to do is comment on this entry and make sure the word ‘YO’ is in your comment.
That’s all you have to do! Easy, right? I will then put all of the names of the people who commented on this entry and put the word YO in their comment onto pieces of paper. I will then put those papers in a hat or something. I will then DRAW A NAME FROM THE HAT and that will be the name of the person who wins the book.
Yo.
You gots until August 14th to put your name in (once!). The winner will be announced August 15th and will get one (1) (Advance Uncorrected) copy of Cracked Up to Be mailed to them. They will have 24 hours to give me the info I need to do that, and if I don’t get it, then I’ll be drawing again.
So go to it! I mean, if you wanna. Don’t forget the yo!
In other news, like I said, I sent off Your Mom to my awesome agent yesterday and now I’m just chillin’ out max and relaxin’ all cool and all shooting some b-ball outside of the school when a couple of guys that were up to no good started making trouble in my neighbourhood I got in one little fight and my mom got scared she said YOU’RE MOVING WITH YOUR AUNTIE AND UNCLE IN BEL-AIR.
Etc.
(That’s my way of saying regular blogging again! Yay!)
ETA: Apparently the anti-spam plug-in was/is not compatible with certain web browsers (ack! How long was that going on?!), and was preventing people from being able to comment, so I have deactivated it indefinitely. I think that’s fixed it, but if anyone wants to enter and, for whatever reason, is unable to comment, hit up the contact page, send me a YO and I’ll post your name on your behalf.

YO baby!!
I want a copy, yes I do. Pretty please. Am I first? I think that should be extra points.
I really, really, really want a copy of CRACKED UP TO BE, yo.
So, hey, yo. I am dying to read your book and would love a galley!
I pulled up to a house about seven or eight, and I yelled to the cabbie, “Yo, home, smell ya later!”
That’s like, OMG THEY ARE BOOKS IN THE FLESH (well not in the flesh as a human, but you get the gist) YO x 1 million de milliard de volcans et de zombies
p.s. hoping that including french + the word volcan + the word zombie will get me brownie points
yo yo yo yo! i absolutely want one because i remember cupboard. :x
WELL OF COURSE, YO. What kiiiind of question, I ask you, is that. That is a messed up question, is what it is, yo.
(Also, my anti-spam word? Is yo. Actually, I’m kidding, it’s ‘connect.’ As in, CONNECT me with a copy of your book, yo. HOOK A SISTER UP.)
Yo, congratulations! I am so jealous. Just wait until a Google search of your name lands on your Amazon page!
Yo, shouldn’t you be Twittering?
Yo, yo, yo, YO! I soooo want a copy. I will go head-to-head with the zombie of your choice in a brain gnawing competition. In fact, you’ll know which Yo is mine in that hat cause it’ll have brains smeared all over it.
Seriously, yo.
I’ll even name a zombie after you in my book, Mason and the Zombies. Oh yes I will!
Yo! yoyo Yo!
And congrats, yo!
Yo. Yo, I is in. (And it looks so pretty!)

OMG YO! I want one! :) xoxox
Great teaser, YO!
I’m sitting at my computer, giggling and repeating the word “yo” to myself. I’ve gotta tell you; if I didn’t already want to read your book (which, of course, I did), I would want to just because of the sheer silliness of this contest!
Yo, Courtney, is it working now? :)
Yo has lost all meaning now. But yo. Again. And also would yo post to the UK? Or am I sadly excluded?
If I could read your book, I wouldn’t have to sit here trying to play with broken yo-yo, yo. :D
Yo!Trying to figure out how to save energy…curling up with yo book would be nice..much less energy than trying to make the durn yoyo keep going up and down…yoyos are kind of fun though..or yo!
M

All you need to know is that I will cut you if I don’t get one. I didn’t even read the entry. I’m that hardcore.
I think I tried and failed at posting a comment and then skipped away merrily, so um YO and I also facebooked the link for this entry to Kriti and you should give the damn book to her just because she’s cool.
also: do you accept skittles-related bribes?
Hi Courtney! Kim has told me a lot about this book, and I definitely can’t wait till it comes out, but it would be amaaazzzing to get my hands on yo book before everyone else.
Btw, “Your Mom” is a great title for your next book, but you should maybe consider “Yo Momma.” :) Good Luck!
The odd truth is I actually greet people with “yo.” They get used to it. ^_^

Yo yo I’m taking time out of my vacation to enter your contest. Yo
Yo, Courtney, I rarely even click on the “contest” section of the Blueboards, but now I’m glad I did. Your cover is all nice and new and eye-catching. Sign me up if you want, but I’d buy it anyway. (Did they give you ALL those ARC’s? OR are you sending some out on your own for review? OR should I stop asking stupid questions and just enter the contest? Yes, you say? Okay, enter me.)
Courtney-OMG! This is the start of the amazing, amazing ride. Wait until you receive your finished copy. You will pass out just like I did!!!
BRAVO, girl. I can’t wait to snag my copy.
Cheers, Felicia
we’ve already bought your book, yo, but two copies mean i don;t have to lose a rock off with tristan over who gets to read it first!
I used to have a hat that had Yo! written across the front when I was 12. I was SO COOL back then.
This is soooo weird because my daughter just got a yo yo at a party this weekend. So do I get entered twice?? Ha.
So happy your ARCs came in!! I would have slept with one under my pillow.
Yo, Courtney–please enter my name in your contest. I’d love to win a copy of your book!! Huge congratulations to you!
