I have a confession to make. I know I shouldn’t do this, but I just can’t help it and maybe it makes me a bad person, but I DON’T CARE.

I keep mentally comparing these two characters:
BUT WITH GOOD REASON. Check it out: they’re both guys. They’re both older than the women they love. They are both super protective of said women. Edward sparkles and drinks blood and moves supernaturally fast. Tuxedo Mask throws roses and wears a tuxedo AND a mask.
With these UNCANNY similarities, it is only natural that I should be forced to choose between them.
After much soul searching, I came to the conclusion that Tuxedo Mask has it all over Edward Cullen. Wasn’t Tuxedo Mask AWESOME, you guys? How did we forget the timeless awesomeness of Tuxedo Mask? How did he get so far removed from our idea of the perfect fictional boyfriend? Sure, he’s not a vampire, but since when is that a BAD thing, really?
So I now propose we all aspire to make our fictional love interests of the rose-throwing mask-wearing variety from this point on.
Discuss.
Sad, true story: I loved Sailor Moon when I was tiny, but that was a teasable offense at school, so I had to keep it a secret. Also, Sailor Jupiter was my favourite. She kicked SO MUCH ASS. Also I still know all of the words to Rainy Day Man. Also I hope this stuff is cool to admit on the internets! Also, I don’t care if it is. Also, I loved Power Rangers too. Trini was my favourite. <3
Uhm. ANYWAY.
Some Girls Are is up now up on GoodReads! If you want to read it, I bet it would make a sexy addition to your To-Read List (also, a simple act like that helps get word out, which I always appreciate). Speaking of Some Girls Are, I got an email from my editor earlier in the week to let me know St. Martin’s Press is getting a photographer to shoot a Regina look-a-like for the cover, which is really exciting. I can’t wait until I can see and show the final version!
In other news, I continue to work hard on Book 3, and by working hard, I mean “organizing a playlist for it.” I consider that working hard because if I didn’t, I might have to confront a truth about myself that I don’t want to confront. The first line of this book is, “Put your hand over my mouth.” It’s been difficult to write, but I really want to write it.
Also, I am sure my Twitter peeps are tired of hearing this because I tweet about it often, but I am HARD UP FOR BLOG ENTRY TOPICS. Like, thank God I started mentally comparing Edward and Darien or this entry may never have happened. And what would the internet be without THIS BLOG ENTRY?
I know. It’s too horrifying to contemplate.
Anyway, this is my sad and unclever way of saying if you guys ever want to see a particular entry about writing or books or How Chuck Bass Would Never Get Away with Any of that Shit if He was a Chick, you should let me know and then maybe I will write it. And then maybe I will update more often! And there will be more Courtney!
And I just assume everyone wants more Courtney.
But I guess maaaaaayyybeeeee there could be such a thing as Too Much Courtney. Honestly, it’s too hard for me to gauge that kind of thing because I live with myself EVERY SINGLE DAY and THAT hardly feels like enough Courtney, if you want the truth.

If it makes you feel better CP I was the only girl at my school NOT obsessed with Sailor Moon – and that was high school. I was obsessed with a cartoon called Victor and Hugo, which was about two French burglars that were hopeless, and at one point in every episode a little dog would run up Victor’s trouser leg and steal his underpants. (Apparently this show was limited to our television, because NOONE REMEMBERS THIS!)
And too much Courtney is not enough, just so you know.
I LOVED Tuxedo Mask. Like in the unhealthy pre-teen way. I had the similar dilemma of going to a school where liking Sailor Moon was a CAPITAL OFFENSE so I hid my love. BUT NO MORE.
I swear I’m going to put a masked rose-throwing crusader in ALL THINGS BETWEEN. Amy will be like “um, hm, no” but I will do it for you bb. FOR US :p
PS. I still love those glasses and I can’t wait for you to be in charge of my entourage.

*swoons* I had so much love for Darian/Tuxedo Mask as a kid (and also as an adult when I bought Sailor Moon on DVD) although I have to admit I never much liked Serena, to much crying! Lita was definitely my favourite and I kinda hoped SHE would change destiny and get it on with Darian…
… and I would love to see a post with anything Chuck Bass related… it could just be different broody Chuck Bass poses and that’d be ok :)

Kalliste: Serena totally cried to much! And was disturbingly klutzy. I could never understand why Darian totally loved her but I kinda got it since they were all destined and stuff. PLUS, she totally kicked ass in her free time. I secretly had the same hope she would get it on with Tuxedo Mask. It would’ve been way more awesome. Why is it that fictional boyfriends are so much better? When I was in Jr. High I had it bad for Speed Racer. Yes, I’m paleolithic. He had it all– animeface before that was a “thing”, and super high levels of dariness, and to top it off was completely aloof. What could be more alluring than some animated fictional guy who shuns all women because, of course, he’s not met YOU yet? Ahem… anyway…
I agree– there can never be too much Courtney– ABSURD! But– you need some rockin’ ruffle shorts to go with the gaga glasses hon. ;)
OMG. Can I just say how OBSESSED I was with Sailor Moon? I learned some japanese because I traded for tape copies online of the versions that weren’t available in the US yet. It wasn’t until years later (um, recently) that I rewatched Sailor Stars with subtitles and actually understood what was going on instead of trying to guess. BTW, all my friends liked Sailor Moon as much. I blogged about this once, but I used to, um, draw my own sailor characters in school and once the guy I was crushing on caught me. I thought he was going to make fun of me, but he started talking to me about how much he loved the show.
So Tuxedo Mask vs Edward Cullen. I do have to say, they both have some odd children going on. Tuxedo Mask’s kid has a serious Oedipus complex and Edward’s is well, a weird hybrid baby that only gets 7 years of childhood before she stops growing. I can see the similarities. I’m not even going to get into Rini’s relationship with a horse.
Aside for Serena, who I loved because I found her crying funny but then she made up for it with her extreme loyalty to her friends, I liked Sailor Venus the best.

I was in grad school when Sailor Moon started airing over here, I believe…. so I didn’t really quite “get” it but I did envy her outfit.
LOL. I don’t know who Tuxedo Mask is or what’s with the get-up….but I can commiserate with you on Power Rangers. I had a Mrs. Robinson-type of crush on Jason was always my favorite. When he was the white Ranger. Not green. Or gold? Or even when he took over Command Center.
I worked as a Power Ranger for a summer. Red Ranger. Kid’s birthday parties. Mall openings. Also was Batman (Keaton) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle- Raphael. Interesting summer.
