WOW! It seems the ARCs arriving on my doorstep really set the ball in motion. First, the ARCS. Then the cover reveal! And now, I got word today that I can now share with you…
St. Martin’s Press has put up a PDF extract on their page for the website. Go here and click the link under the chapter excerpt notice (or click here to access the PDF directly). And check it out–it says you can be notified of when the next chapter is available! That’s right… when.
In the mean time, I will be posting an excerpt page in plain text on my website soon and will update this entry accordingly when it goes up (EDIT: here it is!).
Uhm.
Eek!
AND, if you’ve read the first chapter and it sounds like yer kinda read, my contest for an ARC is still going on for a few more days. It will be the only ARC giveaway I’m doing so make sure you get in on it. If you don’t, the release date is still January 5th aka MONTHS FROM NOW.
Also, I am thrilled to share with you Some Girls Are’s first official blog review from Suzie. It’s spoiler free and glowing and it made my week and you can read it here! Thank you, Suzie!
Finally, I’d like to thank everyone who was kind enough to RT about my cover! Not only that, but my google alerts went a little crazy last night notifying me of all the book bloggers that made it their Waiting on Wednesday pick. I can’t thank you guys enough for this! Word of mouth is so important and it really means a lot that you’re getting it out there. The sparkles I have in my heart for you are many.
MANY.

I downloaded it but I might be too nervous to actually open the file. Eek! (Also, because I like living on the edge, I did not ask to be notified about the next chapter. Or possibly because I follow you on Twitter and I suspect you will mention it.)
Having it out in the open is killing me. WE ARE BOTH NERVOUS! And lulz, yes, yes I will. I am as good as any notification system, dangit.
Super exciting! Can’t wait to check out! Also, I’m preparing my acceptance speech for when I totally WIN you contest btw… and practicing my look of humbled surprise -”Oh no, really? Me??” (points at self and acts all bashful)
I’ve got chills, babycakes. *CHILLS* Are you REALLY going to make us wait until January for the rest? Eep! and W*W!
Hee! I hope you enjoy it. ;)
Aaah, Tiffany, you must have been commenting while I was approving. Eee. Thank you, bb!!!! And… unfortunatey, yes!!! Well. Kinda. The next two chapters will be coming out later this year. :)
Well, that pretty much killed me.
aadfsakjdsf. I HOPE IT WAS A GOOD KILL.
Going to the link now and squeeing with delight.
I hope it’s worth all the squeeing! :D
Whoa.
I need Chapter 2 or even better to win that ARC. January is a long way off.
:) The next two chapters will be posted by the end of the year, if it’s any consolation!
“If it’s any consolation” It’s not a consolation! *crycry*
Hee! I mean.
Sorry. ;)
Thanks for writing such amazing books!
You are such a powerful, incredible writer. SOME GIRLS ARE is going to blow everyone away. I’m so happy for you, Courtney!
I think one of the meanest things I could’ve ever done to myself is READ THAT CHAPTER, knowing I can’t get my hands on the book until NEXT YEAR.
WHAT WAS I THINKING?
I can’t wait!
Oh wow. I love that your writing doesn’t waste any time but also doesn’t feel rushed or forced. I’m like viscerally upset by it but at the same time I WANT MORE.
Reading first chapter will feel like torture, I’m sure, so I won’t read. Hopefully I can get my hands on Some Girls Are real soon though.
I’m so jealous of Susie. But it’s great she likes the book :D
Suzie: aw! ~*so many sparkles*~
Nova: You are the best.
Shabbygeek: Aaaah! I’m glad you can’t wait! That’s a good sign for me!! ;) Thank you!
Isabel: Thank you so so much. I really appreciate that.
Thao: :)
I HAVE TO WIN THE GIVEAWAY. that first chapter was awesome
Holy crap! I’m glad I’m not in HS anymore.
I can’t wait to read the rest – so glad you posted the first chapter!!
hi,
I’ve just discovered your awesome blog and I think it may be one of the funniest things I’ve ever read! I work in a bookstore in Melbourne Australia (and yes it is a hot country – we even have volcanoes…well they’re ‘techincally’ dormant…but we claim them!) and we’ve been recommending ‘Cracked Up To Be’ to everyone- teenagers and adults alike. The girls at work and I talk endlessly about your book – we all think Parker is one of the funniest/saddest/layered/well written characters we’ve ever read. So to continue with the gushing I just wanted to say that I loved the sample chapter – beyond brilliant – and that I will be begging our rep for an ARC!
cheers
: )
ah…sorry i didn’t add that web address on the end there…..please ignore….
Kelly: Maybe the random number generator be with you! ;)
sruble: hee! Me too! And thank you.
Sonja: Hi! Thank you so much for stopping by the blog and commenting! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate that and I can’t tell you how much I appreciate you recommending Cracked Up to Be to your customers! That is so surreal to think of it being talked about in Australia (and I love Australia–I’ve some very good friends over there!!!)!!! Just–WOW! That made my day & I’m thrilled you loved the sample chapter. And no worries about the link. The internet are funny that way sometimes, but I took it out. :) Again, thank you for commenting. I so appreciate all the kind words & all the word of mouth you’ve given CUTB! I hope you enjoy SGA when it comes out! :)
Hi Courtney, I finally got a chance to read the first chapter of Some Girls Are and I love it! I can’t wait for the release in January – though I am still hoping to win the ARC :)
Melissa, thank you so much!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it!!
I knew better than to open that! Gah!! I need to turn the page, but there is no more pages to turn! *slo mo* Noooooooooooooooo!!!!
Hee! Sorry!!! ;)
