Today, the 2010 OLA (Ontario Library Association) Forest of Reading nominees were announced.
Uhm.
Today, the 2010 OLA Forest of Reading nominees were announced and Cracked Up to Be is one of them.
It is a nominee for The White Pine Award.
When I found out, I was like what wait wait wait what what WHAT what what WAT.
And then I refreshed the nominees page a lot, just waiting for the cover image of Parker on the bench to somehow disappear. Because, to be honest, I did not get a lot of sleep last night so I wasn’t entirely convinced what I was seeing was real. Maybe someone had hacked my computer?
But then I got confirmation from my publisher that it WAS real.
And then I was like what wait wait wait what what WHAT what what WAT.
And I have been so completely shocked and thrilled and just like WHAT REALLY about it ever since, I don’t know what else to say.
OH WAIT, ok, I got my sister to pinch me a couple of times and nothing happened, so I feel relatively certain this is not a dream. But I do kind of worry that I am in a coma and this is one of those coma realities AND HOW DO YOU KNOW IF YOU ARE IN ONE OF THOSE?
DOES ANYONE KNOW.

Well maybe YOU are surprised.
Squeeeeee! CUTB totally deserves to be on that nomination list (and to win – crossing fingers). Seriously, I so connected with Parker it’s scary. Besides that, it’s a well written, kickass YA!!!
Congratulations and I hope, Hope, HOPE you win!!!
Stephanie
~*~*~ CONGRATULATIONS MS. AWESOME COURTNEY! You definitely deserve it as Cracked Up to Be is totally ~*sparkly*~ amazing!
Also, how awesome is the name White Pine award? That’s a great name.
CONGRATS AGAIN!!!!! :D
More proof that the Universe knows you’re awesome!! Grats, Woman!
That’s awesome! You deserve it!
F YEAH.
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT.
I’m just going to throw this out there, but I think it IS real, and the only confirmation I have is your talent and overall level of awesome. Oh, and the page with the cover!!!!!
F YEAH.
DUDE WHAT THE EFF that’s wonderful. That is fantastic.
Are clocks working correctly? When you look away then turn back, does the time stay the same? When you look in the mirror, is your reflection normal? When you look at your hands, are you not overly fascinated by them? Can you not, with any amount of effort, teleport?
If you answered yes to all or most of these questions, I’m excited to say that you, Courtney, are just as epically awesomely honor-winning as your reality would have you believe. :D
That is AWESOME!!! Congrats to you and Parker! Hooray for CUTB! I’m keeping everything crossed for CUTB and that White Pine. And I’m glad your sister was there to pinch you and can assure you that this isn’t one of those coma realities.
If it was, events would be running together in a nonsensical way – like you’re driving in your car and suddenly, without warning, you’re on a plane sitting next to Edward Cullen (being blinded by sparkles from the sunlight streaming through the window) instead and then you’re talking to your best friend in your living room but they look like they did five years ago instead of a current version of themselves. If the events of your life are running together properly, you can be sure you’re not in a coma reality and not dreaming. But the absolute easiest way to tell is if you go to the cupboard and grab a spoonful of peanut butter. If you’re in a coma reality or dreaming it will taste sour instead of nutty and yummy. For some reason the taste of peanut butter cannot be duplicated in dream or coma reality. It’s a little known fact but absolutely true.
I’m only sharing this secret knowledge with you now because I want you to be assured of the reality of the moment and celebrate accordingly. Congrats again, Courtney! That rocks.
There was that episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer when Buffy thought she was in a mental institution and couldn’t figure out if her whole life was a hallucination or not. I forget how she resolved it though. Didn’t she end up trying to kill her friends?
Well there you have it. Try killing your friends.
(But if this is coma reality then I’m just your sick subconscious and you probably shouldn’t listen to me)
Oh, and also: CONGRATULATIONS!!!
